Fémis in partnership with the Department, prepares its next Summer School to be held in Paris in June and July 2015, following a call for applications launched in January 2015, a professional committee will select 15 candidates who will receive a scholarship from the items concerned expenses for travel and their stay in Paris.
Fémis (National School of in the field of picture and sound) is under the tutelage of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, and the CNC. Created in 1986 to replace IDHEC (Institute for Advanced Film Studies) Fémis is the principal film school in France and one of the best in the world. The French cultural network abroad cooperates with the agency, including the “Summer School” organized each year since 1988 in partnership with the MAEDI. In 2015, this international training session will take place in June and July.
The Summer University Fémis will be for two months in Paris about fifteen Francophone trainees – film students and young professionals – from around the world (outside the EU) who wish to discover or improve in the field of documentary cinema will be gathered. This intensive session accompanied by practical exercises encourage the young artists to define their personal style through the realization of a short documentary in a professional context. During their residence trainees are invited to screen many films and meet other filmmakers.
The Summer University is a team work experience with other professional young filmmakers from all over the world; a unique opportunity to exchange with others and discover French and European documentary film. It also offers the opportunity for future filmmakers to integrate an international network of young documentary filmmakers. The workshops are in French language and the candidate must have a good level in French language. The training is open to holders of a scholarship awarded by the Embassies of France in the country of candidates’ residence.
Applications will be sent by post in January 2015. The application deadline is fixed to February 20th 2015 for a selection expected in April.
